[Review] [Music Video] Big Bang – Bad Boy

اینم چند تا تیکه از این موزیک ویدیو

Big Bang‘s “Bad Boy” music video might as well be renamed “Four Minutes Of Big Bang Walking Down A Sidewalk In New York City“, because that’s basically what it is.

The story is that they’re bad boys and they each chase after their own girl, all of whom reject them, which causes them to synchronize dances while walking down the sidewalk*.

*I’m not sure if it’s implied that they turn to homosexuality or if it’s just a circle jerk.

Don’t know about you guys, but when I’m with my friends we do that shit ALL THE FUCKING TIME.

Anyway, just like withBlue“, whoever shot this music video did a wonderful job. Everything flows excellently and the cinematography is executed perfectly for the New York urban jungle setting. Unfortunately, the director’s work is undermined by a basic concept and visual ruining fashion.

I know Big Bang and YG Entertainment stans pride themselves on their artists being stylish and possessing original fashion, but sometimes it’s not fashionable, it just looks like shit.

While I’m not gay, I have no qualms about admitting a guy is good looking, and everybody in Big Bang is at least above average except for Daesung … which makes it all the more unfortunate what their stylist did to them.

Let’s start with the good, Seungri looks … normal. Yes, that’s the best it’s going to get.

There are times in the music video where G-Dragon looks like a zombie. Like legit, a character from “Shaun Of The Dead” except with dance moves. The rest of the time? He looks like a cross between a short Marilyn Manson and a kid who listens to way too much Linkin Park.

Daesung looks like he’s trying to be a tranny with that hair color and hair style, and where did he get that jacket? It wasn’t from the men’s department.

Taeyang looks badass … until you get to those purple polka dot pants that make him look like he just got out of clown college, which segues wonderfully into T.O.P‘s outfit, which looks great except for that ridiculous skull chain that no human being would ever be able to take seriously.

How could those women reject your oppas? Because they look like the before pictures on “What Not To Wear“.

I’m sorry to say that the review doesn’t get much better when it comes to the dancing. Taeyang starts it off by doing this body wave thing next to this white girl, which was just awkward, mainly because in real life he would have got maced by her and then shot by racist NYC cops who thought he was too dark to be Asian.

The rest of the music video basically consists of a lot of mean mugging and awkwardly swaying their arms back and forth. I’m not expecting some full on pop and lock routine like it’s an up tempo track, but holy shit, when T.O.P is doing that move at 3:35, I was just waiting for the water to come out of his arm.

If it wasn’t for the director and the backdrop, it probably would have been a complete disaster. I can honestly say that I expected a lot better out of Big Bang and their hyped trip to New York than two rather generic music videos, both of which looked more awkward than cool.

If they release another MV for this album, hopefully it’s set back in Korea, and hopefully it puts them back in their element.
